Sgt. Herman Robertus Rewerts
Herman Robertus Rewerts # 37032113 enlisted in the US Army on June 23, 1941 and trained as a tank mechanic at Fort Knox.
He was sent overseas on September 23, 1943, and landed in France on June 24, 1944.
He took part in the 33rd Armored Regiment's five campaigns. These campaigns included Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace and Central Europe.
Under Colonel Hogan's orders from Normandy, Herman was also ordered to neutralize his tank and abandon it in the village of Marcouray on the evening of December 25, 1944.
He was photographed several times with his brothers-in-arms the following day at the Ringlet farm in Soy.
A month after turning 28, he was killed when his tank was hit by enemy bazooka fire on April 14, 1945 in Kothen, Germany.
These are probably the last living photos of Herman.
He is buried in Plot J, Row 20, Grave 13, at the Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
